What Wunderlust keeps about you.
Signing in is optional. You only need it to save references into your own collections or to get the Wunderlust Digest by email. Browsing Wunderlust never requires an account.
Why you sign in
Google sign-in is used only to identify you, so your collections are yours and follow you across devices. If you subscribe to the Wunderlust Digest, it also confirms the email address the Digest goes to. Wunderlust does not post anything on your behalf and does not ask for access to your Google data.
What is stored
- Your Google account id (an internal identifier, not your email address).
- Your name and profile picture link, as Google shares them at sign-in.
- Your collections: their names, the references you put in them, the brief you write for a collection (what you're making, what it's for and your notes on each reference), and a share link if you turn sharing on.
- Your email address, only while you are subscribed to the Wunderlust Digest (see below).
A session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is only used for that.
What is not stored
- Your email address, unless you subscribe to the Wunderlust Digest.
- Your contacts.
- Anything else from your Google account.
Shared collections
When you turn sharing on for a collection, anyone with its link can see the collection name, its references, and your name and profile picture. If you also share its brief, they can see what you're making, what it's for and your notes on each reference, including through the collection's Markdown link and AI agents. Turn sharing off and the link stops working.
Community suggestions
You can suggest a reference to the Wunderlust Community. Suggestions are reviewed before they appear, and you can keep a link private in your own collections instead.
- Public once approved: your @username, your avatar and the reference card (name, short description, image, category, tags and the link).
- Stored: the links you add, the texts you write for them, a private note if you add one, and your profile (username and avatar choice).
- Never shown: your email address. It is not part of your Community profile.
On Community suggestions, only your @username and avatar are shown, never your real name. Your Google photo appears only if you pick it as your avatar. If a suggestion is withdrawn or deleted, it leaves the Community; people who had already saved it keep it, without your credit.
Wunderlust Digest
The Wunderlust Digest is an occasional email from the founder with new finds and what changed in Wunderlust. It stays off unless you turn it on yourself, with “Get the Digest” or the box under the sign-in button, and you confirm the address with your Google account.
- Stored while you are subscribed: the email address of the Google account you confirmed, your name, the date you subscribed and the place on the site where you did it.
- Used for: sending you the Digest, and nothing else. It may pass through an email delivery service for that purpose only.
- To stop: Profile → Turn off, or the unsubscribe link in any Digest email. No sign-in is needed for the link. Your email address is deleted from Wunderlust right away.
View counts
The view counters on cards are anonymous. They count how many times a reference was seen or opened, and are not tied to an account or to a person.
"For you" taste profile
The "For you" taste profile is kept in your browser. If you sign in, it is also kept in your account, so it follows you across devices. It holds only reference ids, categories, tags and numbers. "Forget my taste" deletes it from the device and from the account.
How to delete your data
- Sign out from the avatar menu to end your session on that browser.
- Delete a collection from “My collections”. It is removed together with its share link and its brief.
- Unsubscribe from the Wunderlust Digest in Profile → Turn off, or with the link in any Digest email. Your email address is deleted right away.
- Delete your account in Profile → Delete my account (from the avatar menu). It removes your profile, username, suggestions, collections, briefs, Digest subscription and sign-in. Public suggestions are withdrawn from the Community.
