## What it is

Alfred is a productivity app for macOS that uses hotkeys, keywords and text expansion to open apps, find files, search the web and control the Mac. It includes clipboard history and snippets.

## What it’s for

For opening ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with a hotkey through a custom URL search, and keeping 3 to 5 personal prompts as snippets.

## Benefits

- Custom search with a dynamic URL to open AI tools
- Snippets that expand from abbreviations
- Clipboard history, calculator and system commands
- Can be paired with a prompt database in Notion

## Caveats

- The app is free; workflows and themes require the paid Powerpack (price not given on the page).
- Works only on macOS; Alfred Remote for iOS is sold separately.
- Using the snippets for two weeks is the video author's example, not a validated recommendation.
