## What it is

Anthropic's public repository with example skills for Claude, the Agent Skills format specification and a template for creating new ones.

## What it’s for

A starting point for installing ready-made skills (documents, design, MCP, communication) or learning the format to write your own.

## Benefits

- Includes the docx, pdf, pptx and xlsx document skills, plus examples for art, design and web testing
- Ships the template and the SKILL.md format specification
- Installs as a Claude Code plugin via /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills

## Caveats

- Many skills are Apache 2.0, but the document skills are source-available, not open source
- According to the repository, the skills are for demonstration and should be tested before critical use
- On Claude.ai, the example skills require a paid plan
- The video warns about prompt injection when using unreviewed skills together with skip permissions
