## What it is

A Python MCP server that, with the Local REST API plugin, lets clients such as Claude Desktop access an Obsidian vault.

## What it’s for

Use it to connect your vault to an AI assistant.

## Benefits

- Lists, reads and searches vault files
- Edits relative to a heading, block or frontmatter field, appends content and deletes files

## Caveats

- MIT license; requires Python 3.11+, the Local REST API plugin and mcp SDK below version 2.0
- According to the video, large searches overflow the context; the tutorial is from 2025 and wasn't retested
- Likely match: the URL was not read directly in the video
