## What it is

Opal is a Google Labs experiment for creating AI workflows by describing them in natural language, with inspectable prompts, models and instructions.

## What it’s for

To build AI mini apps, such as one that generates a collage from a photo or a storybook, with input and output in web, docs or sheets, and then share or remix them.

## Benefits

- Creates workflows from plain-language text
- Prompts, models and instructions stay visible and editable
- Apps can be shared and remixed

## Caveats

- The official page says Opal leaves Labs on November 17, 2026 and that workflows will become skills in Gemini; after that date, active workflows stop running
- Workflow files remain in Google Drive, in the My Drive > Opal folder
