## What it is

Playwright is a framework that controls Chromium, Firefox and WebKit through a single API, for end-to-end tests, scripts and AI agents. It has bindings for TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, .NET and Java.

## What it’s for

To capture screens, inspect pages and test flows in the browser, including inside agent pipelines, such as reviewing frames before assembling a video.

## Benefits

- Test runner with auto-waiting, traces and parallel execution
- MCP server and CLI for agents to control the browser
- Test generator that records actions and writes code
- Trace Viewer with timeline, DOM and network

## Caveats

- The page doesn't list a license or price
- According to its creator, the method is free; that doesn't remove the costs of the agent or optional services
