## What it is

Supabase is an open source backend platform where each project is a Postgres database with REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication, storage, edge functions, realtime and vectors.

## What it’s for

To store data and authenticate users in projects built with AI agents, without setting up the server.

## Benefits

- REST and GraphQL APIs generated from the database
- Authentication with social login, magic link and Row Level Security
- S3-compatible storage and Edge Functions in TypeScript
- pgvector for embeddings

## Caveats

- There's a free plan, but projects pause after 7 days of low activity
- Open source and self-hostable core, according to the page
